I was wondering if anyone out there has built a mame cabinet and then also wired it up with a jamma harness to play real pcbs.

Well here was my original plan but i dont know if it will work, I PMed Andy Warne and emailed him but no responce yet. Hook up my computer to a Jpac, then hook up my 4 player control panel to an Ipac4 and trackball and spinner to an Optipac, hook up both those to the jpac, that to the jamma harness, that to the Jrok (encoder which allows Jamma to be seen on a tv screen) to svideo cable, to 27 inch TV, Does anyone know if this will work?

It's possible, but there are a couple things to be aware of before you go too far...

1st - The Opti-PAC and I-PAC4 are designed to connect to a PC, not a J-PAC.  You may be able to piggy-back the I-PAC4 to the J-PAC, but the Opti-PAC will not interface to the J-PAC at all.

2nd-  Optical devices are not supported by the JAMMA standard.  Not really a big deal, but don't expect to have a trackball and/or spinner connected to a Opti-PAC and then be able to be plug-n-play with JAMMMA+ boards without making some custom wiring harnesses.

Overall your plan is right on and many people have done this.  I have a JAMMA cab right now that I alternate between JAMMA boards and MAME pc w/ J-PAC.  It's the optical controls that get a little sniggly, but it's not like there are tons of JAMMA+ games w/ optical controls anyway.  You might as well just use MAME for those games instead of play them with the real hardware if you can.
