Looking for suggestions (Canada)
« on: August 05, 2004, 05:32:50 pm »
Hey all,

I am looking to make some more purchases for Control Panel parts, but am really not sure the cheapest way to go about this.

Right now, I am building the Ultimate Arcade II and the UAII control panel (plans from www.mameroom.com).  The plans for the control panel are pretty much just for the box as each person will add different controls.

Right now, I have purchased a Spinner from Oscar Controls.  I would like to put a trackball, and joysticks and buttons for 4 players.

So I think to do this, I need the I-Pac and the OptiPac.  The only thing is that if I purchase the trackball I want (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13718&item=6110873624&rd=1), I would only really be needing the Optipac to control the spinner.

I really do want the I-Pac, because I can control 50 or so buttons.  The plan I want has around 40.

Any suggestions for an interface for just a spinner?  What would be the best place to get all the buttons and the joysticks shipped to Vancouver?  How much am I going to get dinged at the border if I order the I-Pac from Ultimarc?

Any suggestions on how to go about this?  If I end up placing multiple orders at these places, it's going to skyrocket the price with customs charges and shipping charges.

Any insight would greatly be appreciated! For those who are curious, I have attached a picture of the progress.  That's the control panel on the top right.

- Jeremy

P.S.  Any group buys going on for Happ's or Ultimarc in Canada?

For Happ  parts, get ahold of Starburst Coin in Toronto. www.starburstcoin.com
Excellent pricing and they ship.

For your spinner, just hack a USB mouse for an interface.
