Well, I dont think theres ever a one means that will fit every need.
Would I go On Ebay looking around and when I hopefully locate something, (which usually already has Bids on it) I'd have to contend with being outbid. Ebay is really the Last Place I go to locate something, because I just get tired of being continually outbid, and you never can tell weather or not you will have the item because of this. If you wind up not getting, it, it can sometimes be alot of time wasted where you could be doing something else more important perhaps.
I dont know of the other One mentioned - is it strictly for parts?
I am not saying my little (6 members so far) Email List is gonna put Ebay or the other one out of Comission - thats not the intent either.
As the List owner, I belong to Several other Technical Comunities on the Web consisting of Technicians who at times seek replacement parts. (they are becoming harder and harder to find every day on the older ones)
My Company is starting to specialize in hard to locate Electronic Repair Parts, and we have supplied a Few Gamers & Service Shops already with some very hard to find Flyback Transformers. Thought this would
be a good way to help out in this area for us, and at the Same time learn some more about the Gaming Market.
A little about me:
I operate a Website for my Company, as well as another Parts Related Group For Servicers of Consumer Audio and Video, where they can locate hard to find repair parts. I belong to 6 other Professional / Technical Email Lists covering the Repair of related equipment.
While I cant speak for the others who tried a similar list and failed, I can at least say I have started a similar Group for a different Area of Electronic servicers with moderate to good Success thus far. I only allow serious people in my groups with REAL nned or serious intent to use the resources. Lastly, of the 6 Email and Web Groups I use , I have found each one to 'bring something special' to the Table, where say the other 5 Lists would not. I have also been able to hook people up with another from one list to another. ...to get the job done, whatever it happened to be.
