USB and 2 player control panels, problems?
« on: July 28, 2004, 10:06:05 am »
I've been looking at some of my options before ordering new parts for my mame cabinet and am excited by the mini-pac board. I was on the fence as to weather I should build a 2 or 4 player CP anyways. With the Mini-pac I could run all my 2 player controls, trackball and spinner at half the cost.

My question though is, I've heard that the default HID keyboard driver in windows has problems when numerous keys are hit and held down at once. Similar to the old matrix ghosting, but at a driver level. I've not been able to back this up with any facts though even though I did a large google search. I know that my X-Arcade has some issues in 2 player pc gaming, but that might be the fault of the old USB Y-mouse adapter i'm using.

Does anyone here use a USB based keyboard controller? If so have you had any problems?

I had an older i-Pac and USB cable that I didn't use, but it sadly died sometime during my last 2 moves so I cannot test it myself.
