4-player help
« on: August 20, 2002, 09:52:29 pm »
I am still planning my controls for a cab.  The 4-player panel will be utilised for games that need two joysticks per player.  My question is are there any games that have 2 or more simultaneous players requiring the 2 joysticks?

The reason I'm asking is that I originally thought to have the players pointing straight at the tv from the 4 positions.  This means the directions of the joysticks would be different.  Sorry if it's not explained well, but have a look at http://www.slikstik.com/quadfeatures.htm especially at the outside players and it should help.  If there are only games for 1 player then I could just use the 1-p and 2-p joys.  If it has 2 player then 1st player would use 3-p and 1-p and the 2nd player 2-p and 4-p which I don't think would work.

Any help/advice would be great.

Cheers

Thanks Sasquatch.  I checked on Klov for some others and found that Smash TV and some others also have 2-player 2-joy games.  I think I should just set it up as my original plan.  Maybe have the 3-p and 4-p at 45 degree angle then could just remap those joys for the necessary games.

Is a 45 deg angle to the screen to much for the outer players.  What angle do some of those with 4-player controls have?

Cheers

45° should be fine, as it gives the players more space. I'm a bit tight on space though, and have used some slightly different angles to get 4 players into a much smaller space.

It doesn mean they are little bit closer together, but it shouldn't cause any clashing of elbows.
