Hi all!
« on: July 27, 2004, 09:45:57 pm »
Hi guys, my name is Ferrariman, and I recently became very interested in building a racing cabinet. Right now, it's only a pipe dream, as I have no money, but after buying Project Arcade and reading it cover to cover, I became even more interested in building one. I think I found the perfect design in the BigPanik cab here. All I would add is a dead pedal and permenantly mounted controls (buttons, wheel with Betson Daytona 2-style wheel, pedals, H-shifter) mounted like the controls on the Daytona USA 2 cab. That wouuld be cool, especially once MAME starts to emulate the Sega Model 1/2/3 racers... and that could be sooner than I hope... :)
In the meantime, I would hook up a PS2 to my dream cab and use it to play Gran Turismo 4, and hook up a PC to play NASCAR sims.
It's just a pipe dream now, but it would be cool... :)

Thanks for the kind words there. :)
I'm also thinking about paddle shifters for the wheel, but I don't know how to add those to the wheel setup while keeping the Daytona 2-style wheel I want. Other than that, I know what I want.  ;D

That's the hardest part.  I've pretty much set what I want, but in the beginning, I was changing my mind every week or so.

Well, I could always use a TSW super wheel, as it has most, if not all, the controls I want... :)
Could be expensive, though... :(

My suggestion would be to attend auction in your area, check out newspaper classifieds, and frequent the rec.video.games.arcade.collecting & marketplace, eventually a dead driving cab will come up for probably pretty cheap. They are hard to move, and therefore, not a whole lot of people want them. Just a small suggestion. It might take a few months, but something will turn up. BTW, where are you located?

My games: Tapper, Asteroids, Cocktail-MAME, Tron, ROTJ, Tempest, Star Wars (not working)
My wants: Warlords Cocktail

OK, auctions are always within the realm of possibility. And for the record, I'm located in Florida.
