Need help to build a Racing Cabinet
« on: July 25, 2004, 11:47:48 am »
Hello all,

I was interested in building a driving cabby some time ago, but got discouraged (I'm fairly newb).

Then I wanted to purchase a Race Drivin' Cabby, but found out that they are expensive, rare and shipping alone would kill (weighs around 750lbs)

So I was again discouraged, until I came across this...
http://custom-arcade.com/roadrage.htm

I actually have that very same wheel (MOMO racing force) sitting around collecting dust.

So now I am once again inspired. I wish to make a cabinet something like that "RoadRage" (Sitdown cabby)

I'm sure I can figure out the actuall dimensions of the cabinet, but again I have never used MAME for Driving games and my questions are:

Anyone know where I can get a racing seat?

Where can I get a shifter as well (ACT Labs doesnt sell them anymore)?

What Emulator should I use?

How do I interface my current USB Wheel with the choosen EMU (I have tried using the MOMO wheel on Hard Drivin' in MAME32 but the steering/throttle is all screwey)?

Has Race Drivin' been emulated yet?

Thanks for your time, already in a short time you guys have helped me out.

Where do you live and how much are you willing to spend?

I have a Ridge Racer with a fried CPU that I may be willing to part out if you are near me and the price is right.  (won't ship; not cost effective)

The Ridge Racer seat assembly has a shifter built in, so you could kill two birds with one stone.

Edit: Forgot to answer your questions.

See above.

See above.

MAME, but you can use a PSX emulator for some of the PSX racing games.

Not too sure. You probably have to do an ingame calibration.

Has Race Drivin' been emulated yet?

Yep, Race Drivin', Hard Drivin', and even a Race Drivin' prototype that has never seen the inside of arcades.

I live in central Minnesota... If you feel like traveling, maybe we can reach an arrangement (or perhaps even meet somewhere).
