Console arcade stick -> PC ??
« on: July 25, 2004, 03:27:16 am »
I was wondering if anyone knew: If I got a gamecube arcade stick or two, and then plugged them into the computer using a GC to USB adapter, would it work in MAME?

Cheers,

It would work just like a PC usb gamepad and would work in MAME too.  However, I think you would be better off constructing your own stand alone joystick or buying something like this: http://www.massystems.com/PS-NOVA.jpg.  The console arcade sticks are generally pretty flimsy.

Go for it. Years ago I bought the Namco arcade stick for the playstation (yellow joystick/buttons.. dark grey base) and wired it inside to go into a standard joystick port on the PC.

Its fantastic to have that arcade feel, and for very little money (ok, it was something like

Thanks for the support :D

However, I can't find a damnable two player adapter for gamecube controllers... I don't even know if one exists... I don't want to have to buy two seperate adapters, as that will be a lot of money... Any help with this would be appreciated.

Cheers

The following will give you some indication of what you will need, if you go for the build your own option, and the costs involved. Compare the costs with what you will pay for your Game-cube sticks and their adapters, then make a decision...

Excellent post SideShow Rob :D It's not often that someone will pause to consider the pros of alternative options, even if they don't think they are any good...

I have decided to get one arcade stick and one adapter, which will cost
