Making an Accurate Control Panel drawing for artwork
« on: July 24, 2004, 10:09:53 pm »
I was wondering what other people did to relate an accurate control panel layout to a picture so they could add a graphics overlay to their control panel.

Here is the one I made measuring each button.  When I did it I was doing everything to a forth scale to make it big enough to use, but I know my measurements are off by a bit, because of how it all came out.  So i was also wondering how people measured their button positions and joystick positions and if there are any tricks to it.

I would hate to use the drawing I have, design graphics only to have them not line up, that would just not be cool.

Microsoft visio works well for me to create the layout.  Then I export to a JPG and bring into Photoshop for the artwork.

I did the exact same thing. Very easy.

My next question would be how did you get the measurements?  Did you measure it button at a time?  or is there another way that is more efficient?

Check the artwork page (link on the frame to the left) and you can find visio templates, and other useful tools.
