Desert Patrol cabinet (circa 1977)
« on: July 23, 2004, 05:08:26 pm »
I was looking at this cabinet on ebay.  It looks to be in pretty nice shape physically, and I emailed the seller he says the only thing wrong with it is The picture on the monitor is somewhat shaky-unstable, and the volume is real loud.  I think the artwork on this cabinet is just too damn COOL! :) I play alot of bf1942 and the artwork totally reminded me of that. Anyhow at $50 I don't think I can go wrong.  Does anyone have any other information or links to schematics etc. regarding this awesome cabinet?

sorry link didn't work. here is the correct one.

Well, I checked my HQ manuals and schematics folder and it's not in there. However, if the only thing wrong with it is the monitor and volume, you probably won't need the schematics (but hunting down a copy for the future probably won't hurt. If one isn't available on the 'net, you'll have to phone some arcade companies in your area or the manufacturer themselves (if they are still around. It is manufactured by a company called Project Support Engineering and they haven't made a game for nearly 30 years).

I'd say grab it... If you are like me, you've probably invested 50$ in worse things. (I didn't remember that game until I saw the scoring instructions on KLOV. I used to play that game when I was a pre-teen. Coolness.)

I found the original flyer for the game. pretty cool.  I too played this when I was a young one :-)

I never heard of a 26" black and white monitor. If it has the standard 23" one, then those are really easy to find. I have 3 nice ones sitting around myself.

Also, in general black and white monitors are real reliable, just piece together a cap kit for it manually (if it is a nonstandard model) and it should fix right up.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Ya he could be wrong on the 26" monitor but who knows...  I put in the bid for it so we shall see.  I live very close to this guy so I can just go pick it up.  if/when I win the auction and I get it home I may need some help troubleshooting the volume and monitor issues :-)

Thanks for the information Paigeoliver

So I'm failry certain I am going to win this auction, it ends tomorrow.  If anyone is interested I can take some thourough pictures of it when I get it home.  It looks like the sideart is scratched up a bit.  any idea's on how you would restore that?  Would I just try to match paint and use some latex paint on it or is there a better way?
