what varnish colour to use?

i am making a cocktail cab out of Oak veneered MDF (it has a really nice grain to it). Just trying to decide what varnish colour to use. Personally i think Walnut would look good and a classic colouring for a pacman cocktail cab. Any other ideas for alternatives colours to consider?

I could have gone for the cheaper alternative of regular MDF with stick on vinyl covering but figured it was worth the extra expense (about

It's up to you but I always use clear gloss varnish on my cabinets. I tried a bunch of stains etc and it seems to look the best.
