how do i prevent ghosting

hi i have just sat here thinking of the many ways to  make a arcade stick and controlls but im worried about ghosting how in my keylayout canb i prevent it one thought i had was to lay out keys in horizontals and go every other vertical row would this work?

No modern keyboards have ghosting.

If you select one input per row (or column) per player input as you have indicated you will not have any problems. The most you can do is 2 players with 6 buttons each, assuming that one side of your decoder has 16 lines. The other inputs, like coins and start, need to share inputs.

Make a list of all your windows trick combinations, like alt-enter, and avoid them.

Not true... ALL modern keyboards have ghosting, it's the old one's that sometimes didn't.  It doesn't matter anyway because you are going to run into key blocking, which is even worse.  Long story short if you go with a keyboard hack don't expect to be able to hit more than about 3 keys at once and get them to register.  So a keybaord hack is really only suitable for a 1 player, 2 or 3 button setup.

Save yourself a big headache and buy an ipac.
