Taito Cocktail Straight Flush/Space Invaders Pt II
« on: July 20, 2004, 05:33:27 pm »
Hi

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone can help.

I have just been lucky enough to obtain a fully working, excellent condition Taito Straight flush cocktail.

I have never seen one before !. here is my quandry - I have a 3 board Space Invaders pt II set what I want to fit in this machine, But I do not want to hack the original wiring.

The problem is that this machine is unique in that it uses a rotary knob to control the game, unlike Space Invaders joystick/firebutton.

Does anyone know if the pin outs would be the same on this board as SI pt II?.

Should I look for a 2nd control panel/harness to fit so that the original is not hacked?.

Is this machine collectable and changing it at all would be sacrilegious?.

If anyone can offer any words of wisdom or some Taito SI pt II control panels, please feel free to contact me/reply !

Thanks

My opinion on this one is...

Does the cab have unique side-artwork or is it the generic "Taito" logo and stripes? If it's the generic, then I don't know if it would matter as much that you hack it.

On the other hand, it's an old game (1979) and I've never even seen one (in fact this is the first I've heard of it--KLOV doesn't even have pics of the cab). So perhaps it is rare and worth keeping intact.

One thing though... send some cab pics to KLOV!

The pinout will probably be mostly the same if the boards are nearly identical, if the boards are different then they will likely be different.

Is your Straight Flush color or black and white? Your Space Invaders? Is your Space Invaders a Taito or Midway boardset?

For reference, this is a Japanese type sitdown generic cocktail table, Straight Flush board is colour, so is the Taito SI pt II board set (3 Layer). I have not actually received the machine yet, but I will post some pictures of the boards. In the meantime anybodys thoughts on actually doing this deed. Should I or shouldn't I - Is it rare in it's current state, would I be messing with a possible One only remaining unit in the UK?. Does anyone else have one. Any comments would be appreciated !

Thanks
