Mounting Joys

This has probobly already been discussed. if so please tell me to cram it and pay better attention. Anyways..

Is there a away to mount joysticks w/o the big bolts? can you brace the bottosm with metal strips? or screw em in from the bottom or sumthin? if anyone has tried anything other than the bolts lemme know please.

Yes you can use screws to screw the joysticks to the bottom of your control panel.  The carriage bolts are usually used because they can take a ton of abuse and still hold the joysticks in place (like what would happen in the arcades).

If you decide to use the T-nuts, here is what I learned.  The T-nuts worked out well.  However, on my first attempt, I covered the nuts directly with wood putty; and when I tightened down the joysticks, the nuts (slightly) pulled the putty down with the nuts.  

Then I decided that a paper disc between the nuts and the putty would prevent them from being drawn down with the nuts.  I found that the wax paper discs that those protective felt pads come on were perfect for the job.  Now the putty sticks to the side of the holes and remains flush when tightening down my joysticks.

The control panel graphics would have probably covered the impressions but I made it flush anyway.  Good luck.

I screwed my sticks in from the bottom and I haven't had a problem yet.  I had to be careful to get screws that wouldn't poke out of the top though.
