WICO Rotary trackwheel/spinner
« on: July 07, 2004, 06:05:58 am »
Can any one advise on whether the WICO Rotary trackwheel/spinner is any good. I think it is designed as a  replacement for arkanoid game. Just wonder how well it will work with Tempest?

Do you have a link?

My guess is if it is intended as a replacement for Arkanoid it would not be great for Tempest...

Not that I was ever a pro at Tempest, but I still think that if you have the skill, then it's just a matter of getting use to the equipment on hand.  I've actually gotten fairly decent playing Centipede with a mouse...I may not be great by any means, but I can do just as well with a mouse as I ever did with a trackball.
The default personal text is is "I'm a llama!"???  I guess that makes me an emperor with a new a groove.

Just keep in mind that Arkanoid spinners like that have those gears to make small movements precise. You cannot give a hard spin on those and have the wheel keep turning on it's own after you let go (which is what Tempest spinners do).
NO MORE!!

Nice looking tempest spinners on ebay are going for around 20 bucks.  I used to see (and let them pass) for 10... but it seems like they are going up a little these days.

But those are for used ones.

I'd say you got a pretty good deal there, considering especially spinners are very rare on UK ebay...

I got two Arkanoid spinners off ebay for just over $20 not too long ago. I would say that an arkanoid spinner would not be a good choice for a MAME cab unless you're mainly going to play Arkanoid.
