wico catalog
« on: July 05, 2004, 10:01:49 pm »
I am thinking about ordering the following Universal STC Joystick from wico http://www.wicothesource.com/new2/pages/page88.htm.

Has anyone tried one of these? What is the difference between microswitches with 4.8mm .187" terminals and 6.3mm .250" terminals. Are these just like the old ball top joysticks with the chrome handles or are these things completely different?

If these arent the same old style chrome handled joysticks where can i find some in blue?

Great sticks, do a search for omni-stik and you find lots of info.
You can pick them up over at http://www.groovygamegear.com/which is a more reliable, friendly source. :)

The different microswitches are to adapt to whatever size terminals you are using in your machine...the .187" terminals are normally used for joysticks.

Wico is a joke of a company.  I placed one order with Wico.  The order was missing items, had defective items, they sent the wrong replacements, they overcharged me for shipping and they never made it right.  And I could go on...

The more I look at wico the more i've decided not to go with them.

I like http://www.groovygamegear.com/, they have many great products, and i like the retro edition but it's $45!

What is the cheapest place to get the "retro edition" type joysticks, and where can i find them in blue.

Ultimarc has what you are looking for, only $11.00

i've looked at ultimarc and they have the "retro style" joysticks in blue, but you have to buy the handles seperately to get the color you want which are $12 just for the handles alone. The only joystick that was $11 was the euro style joystick, but i want the chrome plated shaft ball-top joystick.

So is there any site that has the "retro style" ball-top joystick fully assembled that is under $20, with the color blue.

The Wico sticks you mentioned are NOT the chrome handled ones.
They quit making those a long time ago.

I've seen a few blue Wicos, like you are asking about, on ebay in the past couple months, the last of which went for $18.00.
They are few, and far between, though.

Somebody did just buy a whole lot of used joysticks a few weeks ago, that I think included some blue ones.
Those "might" start showing up again on ebay, if you're willing to wait long enough.

Other than that, you've got the T-stik Plus w/ add-on blue balltop handle for $24+14+shipping, and that's about it.

Another option would be to buy a couple red-ball Wico sticks, and replace the sticks with blue ones when you can get some on ebay.
That will at least space the cost out for you.

Ok, so getting the blue ones other than ultimarc/ebay is probably not going to happen.

So what is the cheapest place to get the same "retro style" chrome handled ball top joysticks in any color other than ebay?

Thankyou all for your help ahead of time.

Well you can get them from Ultimarc for $15 (red J-Stik) but if you're from the US shipping might be high.

Is the J-stick different from American versions, because it's Japanese?

I don't have a clue what's "japanese" about it. Perhaps the stick comes from a japanse manufacturer? There is no difference in it's functionality.
