Hantarex MTC 900/E cap kit and repair guide
« on: July 05, 2004, 07:16:28 pm »
This monitor uses lots of capacitors and sometimes IC3 goes bad which in turn burns up resistor R56 (goes open).

CAPKIT LIST

Deflection board (DE06):

C98  100 uf @ 25 volt
C97  47 uf @ 200 volt
C66  2.2 uf @ 63 volt
C40  4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C94  100 uf @ 25 volt
C23  100 uf @ 25 volt
C85  100 uf @ 25 volt
C32  2.2 uf @ 63 volt
C55  10 uf @ 50 volt
C54  4.7 uf @ 250 volt
C65  4.7 uf @ 63 volt

Interface board (IE06):

C36  22 uf @ 50 volt
C83  47 uf @ 25 volt
C25  47 uf @ 25 volt
C21  10 uf @ 50 volt
C22  10 uf @ 50 volt
C38  10 uf @ 50 volt
C18  4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C19  4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C20  4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C27  10 uf @ 50 volt
C29  10 uf @ 50 volt
C39  10 uf @ 50 volt
C4    220 uf @ 16 volt
C5    220 uf @ 16 volt

Neck board (NE06):

C51  4.7 uf @ 250 volt
C50  10 uf @ 25 volt

Plug in "EW" board (if present on your monitor):

C84  220 uf @ 16 volt
C87  10 uf @ 50 volt
Note: there is a 10 uf @ 50 volt soldered to the foil side of this board. If replacing, connect as follows: minus end to end of C91 closest to edge of board. Plus end to top end of resistor R125.

If your monitor has a symptom of "No vertical deflection", in other words just a thin horizontal line across the face of the picture tube, then check resistor R56 (6.8 ohm, 1 watt) to see if it's open. If it's open replace it AND the vertical deflection IC3 (TDA 2653A). You can use an NTE 1804 to replace that IC.

For those that would like to replace this chassis with an 8liners one here are the specs for ordering:

Yoke resistance: vertical is 15 ohm (low impedance) and the wires going to it are the Brown & Red ones. Horizontal is 2.5 ohm and the wires going to it are the Orange & Yellow

Picture tube is 10 pins and Hantarex used either one of these in it:

Samsung 5109B22 (test with B&K adapter CR-23)
Toshiba 510UEB22 (test with B&K adapter CR-23)

Flyback is # 28010250 (2433011)

Hi, I've used these lists with great success.

But pcbs on my MTC900/E are slightly diffent fra the ones depicted in the manual.

For the deflection board (labeled DF04) and the neckboard (labeled NE04) the numbers of the capacitors do infact match up fine with your list even though they are placed elsewhere on the pcbs.

But for the interface board, there is a slight difference. I have therefore composed this alternative list, to use if you have the this board installed in your MTC900/E chassis:

Interface board (PE06):

C36 22 uf @ 50 volt
C83 47 uf @ 25 volt
C25 47 uf @ 25 volt
C21 10 uf @ 50 volt
C22 10 uf @ 50 volt
C38 10 uf @ 50 volt
C18 4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C19 4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C20 4.7 uf @ 63 volt
C27 10 uf @ 50 volt
C29 10 uf @ 50 volt
C39 10 uf @ 50 volt
C7 100 uf @ 16 volt
C8 100 uf @ 16 volt
C9 100 uf @ 16 volt
C4 10 uf @ 25 volt
C5 10 uf @ 25 volt
C6 10 uf @ 25 volt

My monitor now looks clear, sharp and crisp; thanks many times for the list :notworthy: Ken, it has been a great help when I asseblied a cap kit myself.
