USA parts supplier advice re O/seas orders
« on: July 05, 2004, 10:17:56 am »
I'm in Australia and fed up with the outrageous prices demanded by local parts suppliers.  For example, several want about $19 - $21 USD (not AU) for a Happ Ultimate 8-way stick, about $0.55 USD per foot of t-molding.  We are ripped of severely.

 >:(

I've checked the parts links on the site here but still hesitant as some of the pages don't seem to have been updated in a while.

Can anyone suggest reputable sites that ship parts to Australia?

The Real Bob Roberts looks good.

Opinions?

Hey Darksoul1 your right I just checked a couple of distributers in your country and the prices are 2 to 3 times higher than anywhere else. I know shere are a number of members here from Aus that can help better here than me but I will tell you who I used to deliver here to Canada.

First off... I used Ultimarc to order my Opti-pac, I-pac and Trackball. They also have buttons, joysticks, etc. there. Andy was fast, reliable and priced competetive. Great service and product. When you click this link http://www.ultimarc.com/order.html don't use Ozstick, too expensive, use the International US dollar page. $12.00 shipping and handeling, pretty resonable.

Second... I used Bob Roberts to order my Happs Comp Joysticks and Buttons. Bob was fast to respond to my order but he only takes Money Orders US and International. It just means you may have to wait an extra week for delivery through the Post Office. His prices are better than Happs and carries alot of their Joysticks and Buttons. When you click on this link http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/parts.html just copy and past what you want into an e-mail with your name and address and he will get back to you with a price. $18.00 shipping and handeling, pretty resonable.

Thirdly... I used the Oscar Vortex spinner, it's a great spinner well made, it just has a larger footprint than SlikStik's Tornado Spinner and about $15.00 cheaper. Gotta like cheaper. On US and International Orders they accept Visa, Mastercard and PayPal. I used MMProducts, Oscar's Canadian distributer, and if Oscars main site is as good as Zakk/Glen at MMP then you should do well there. All orders in US dollars I believe. I think shippind cost me $8.00 by Canada Post.

Finally... the T-moulding if you can get it for .55 a foot that's pretty good. You can probable get it a little cheaper here http://www.t-molding.com/cart/customer/home.php?cat=16 depending on the size, color and style. Good service here as well and shipping was about $6.00.

These are the places I used and they all were great, reliable and the cheapest I could find. There could be others cheaper, but I couldn't find them. You could always try the online auctions, but I never use them.

Lastly there are a couple places I didn't mention for a couple of reasons...
One... they seemed to expensive and seemed to charge too much for Shipping. SlikStik http://www.slikstik.com/default.aspx they only accept PayPal and wanted to charge me $24.00 for shipping, $12.00 for them and $12.00 for Paypal, on top of the $90.00 for the spinner. No Way!
Two... confusing order form like with Happs. http://www.happcontrols.com I went through the order form only to find out at the end they only accept Paypal on Canadian orders. I hate Paypal, $4.00 Can to signup and service fees to use it, I don't Tthink so. So I went to Bob Roberts who was cheaper. I guess I will have to in a couple of month's when I build my Cab.

There are other places like Wico.com but there website only shows low res. scans from there catalogue.

I know this was rather long, but I hope it helps you.

I just ordered Nintendo cabinet t-molding from t-molding.com and paid 50 cents a foot so your quote of 55 cents is not bad at all.

That was a week ago Saturday (Canadian order mind you). As for the .55 Paypal fee that's above what your Credit Card or Bank Account charges per trasaction. They are nothing more than a go-between and charging us to use them. Now that's a nice scam!
