WTB - Midway Coin Door with flush mechs
« on: July 04, 2004, 04:32:37 pm »
I am in the UK and looking to buy a coin door w/ mechs to fit a new cocktail cab that i am going to build.

I have seen a number of midway coin doors which have horizontal coin slots and mechs that are mounted flush this the door. this would be ideal as have limited clearance from my monitor.

anyone know where i can get such a thing in the UK? i have been watching ebay but only ones i have seen are in US and shipping would be too much. and to be honest they were not in good shape.

does any one manufacture such doors these days?

In the US, all bally-midway two drop coin doors have flush mounts for the mechs.  And the mechs are the same mechs as all other coin doors use, they just have a different mount on the door itself (part of the door)

They show up on ebay all the time, but never in particularly good condition.  Peale has a good tutorial on how to recondition them, but basically I do the following things:

-remove all parts
-remove the paint with a wire wheel in a drill
-spray paint with Rustoleum textured black spray paint, thinck coat
-bake in oven at low setting for 15 minutes.  Some people like to start with a primer coat first, but I haven't tried that yet.
-respray and re-bake several times
-polish all the removed parts, I use polishing compound and a buffing wheel
-reassemble.  Hopefully you took a couple of pictures so you remember how.
-buy new Midway sticker from www.arcadeshop for $15.00 and apply it

I've restored a few doors this way and I have about four more door that still need work.
