Please help me with my shopping list

Hey guys
Just wondering if you could help me finalize my shopping list.
I'm preparing to build my first cabinet and im doing all the research before i get into it.  So i wanted to double check your thoughts on my shopping list for controls before i purchase them.  Please if you see anything that's missing, or un-needed please let me know

The goal of the cabinet, is to have 4 player controls, a spinner, a trackball, and another 4way controller

I will also need a Control Panel -> PC control Interface i imagine but im not sure

which one to go with,  with these many controls i want to make sure i dont have any

ghosting, so i'm guessing i need one that supports alot of keys, which one would you

recommend?  and do i need 2?
   

Do you guys see anything that i have left out? or should change if you feel there

would be a better solution?
Is there any other special connecter wires that i require?

I'm new at this too, but my own research lead me to order an     I-Pac4 from Ultimarc (www.ultimarc.com), which is an interface that supports 4 player control layouts, along with a buttload of buttons.  As for a spinner, check out oscarcontrols.com and slikstik.com - they both seem to be highly recommended for their spinners.  Good luck!

i would look on ebay for trackball


i picked up one translucent with buttons for 90 (ps/2) connect

i was looking at the happ one but 150 is way to much

If you're buying that many push-buttons, maybe you should call Wico and check the price with them. Wico's buttons are just as good as Happ's and sometimes they run great deals on them. Their number is 1-800-367-9426.

Some comments I would make are:

Get everything you can from The Real Bob Roberts, rather than Happ.
He buys their stuff at a discount, sells it cheaper than they do, and is ALOT better on shipping.

I've had great experiences with Wico, the local sales rep was very helpful and I'd deal with them again in a heartbeat. I could say the same things about Bob Roberts; he's a god among men.

Don't forget the mounting kit for the trackball.  Get the kit, not just the plate.

If you play a lot of fighting games, I would highly recommend the Happ Competition buttons.

Ipac4 would be good for the joys and buttons.  Unless you are using a jamma cab, then you would want a Jpac and an Ipac2

Use mouse hacks, or an Optipac for the trackball and spinner.

is there any other encoder that supports more then 56 inputs?

also, about leaf buttons from therealbobroberts...

Will i need to buy both of the following for one complete button?
Leaf sw button only long ($1.50)
Leaf sw & holder for metal or wood control panels ($3.00)
therefore making it 4.50 a button?

Hagstrom have encoders that will work for you, you will probably find the IPac4 a bit easier to wire up and to use though  (none of the encoders have any ghosting).
I agree about the joystick choice, blech! Unless you really must have yellow get your self some Happ comps and a MsPac/Galag reunion or go for switchable sticks you can find them on the Ultimarc site.
Why do you want 1 leaf switch button by the way?
If you are buying an Opti-Pac you might as well get a spinner as well. May I suggest the Vortex from Oscar, I have this one and it rules.

I was trying to figure out the costs of getting all the buttons i'd need for my cabinet, if i go the leaf meathod way, then im paying about 4.50 US a button, instead of about 1.50 a button if i go with microswitch ones.... that's a big difference once you buy 40 or so buttons
