Need fuse ratings for different parts of the cabient!
« on: June 28, 2004, 06:35:46 pm »
So I blew a monitor fuse by accident the other day (not the fuse in the monitor, the fuse in the power line)

I want to replace it.  Problem is the fuse was so old anything that was on it long corroded away.  It's completely unreadable.

So what components take what rating fuses?  Voltages, amps, etc?

Depending on the size of the monitor you can probably go with a 1.5 amp slo-blo for 19" and smaller monitors or 2 amp slo-blo for 25" and  27" monitors.

Thanks, Ken.  How about other components?

What about voltage ratings for those components?

The fuses should be of the 250 volt variety.

The fuses should be of the 250 volt variety.

Even for the PCB?  I would think I'd want something along 12V for that.

For low voltage high current applications you can use automotive fuses which are rated at 32 volts (costs more than 250 volt fuses).
