Idea for turning on TV automatically on startup

I recently came up with the idea of somehow wiring up a tv remote (i'm using a 27 inch tv in my cab) to the usb port so that when the computer starts up, the tv will turn on as well.  Im not so sure how to do this but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure IR outputs are available for PCs probably even USB...

If so, it would be as simple as finding a program that will send IR commands when certain events happen.

the end result may be what your after, but i believe it works differently.

usb isn't what you are after, the IR port like crash suggested is your target.

the names of the programs and the name of the popular remote escape me now, but something like that can be done if I recall.  You may have some luck surfing over to a HTPC forum and asking there.  Google may be even easier then that though.

Thanks for your input guys, but did you see the price?!  Its $50!  I was looking for something on the cheap.  Then again that would be great if I had the money.  Any other ideas?

omg, i need to do this as well, i HATE having to get out my remote everytime i power up my cab. I have to turn the TV on, then hit input twice on the remote to get it to the svideo 'channel'. so aggravating.
And yeah, $50 is more than I'm willing to spend to do it, right now as well
