larger attachment pic size

i'm not really sure if this is in the right forum (but i don't think it fit anywhere else) and maybe shouldn't get posted at all. oh well. i won't mind if it gets destroyed. allright. that said, my question is: does anyone bsides me think that we need a bigger photo attachment size for replies to a topic? the current size is 250 kb, and my paint shop pro images are all at least 381 kb. i don't knopw much abgout deesigning these web pages, or if photos larger than 250kb would make the pages take too long to load for us dial-up users or something like that. also, does anyone know a better cp desgining element besides paint shop pro that's free? and takes us less space for files?

Please keep file size small. I'm on a slow 28k dialup connection here in the sticks of Olympia, Washington.

just resize them biguns! ive been doing that. even paint will work. ive found if any of mine are bigger than the page i just resize a bit smaller and edit my post. nothing worse than a really wide pic making it a chore to read the posts...

in paint shop pro, when you go to save them as .jpgs.. click on the 'run optimiser' button. you can then select the level of compression... you can get a full screen photo down to about 50k with hardly any visual loss :)

If anything 250k is too much, posting huge files ups the sites monthly bandwidth which causes Saint more hassles, not to mention people with slow internet connections. I always try to keep my files under 50k in file size and under 600x600 pixels, this makes life easy for everyone.

i realized my poblem: my pics were about 12 in by 9 in. i put down to about 4x3 and that solved the problem.
