how to remove sideart, without ruining it?

what is the best way to remove the side art without ruining it?  steam (from an iron?)
any other ideas?

Removing side art destroys it. You simply can't save it. If you try to remove it, it will stretch, crack, or simply snap off in little sections. That's why dealers sell NEW and REPLACEMENT side art. Once it's on it on----period.

Lighter fluid will loosen the adheisive if you want to try taking off side art, but you won't be happy with the 'salvaged' art.

I've never been able to save it.  Sometimes they come off okay if it's a thick vynil sticker.  But it's always ripped up.  

A heat gun will stretch it.  It might loosen it enough.

If you put any solvent on it it's hosed.

i wanna take it off so i can scan it and then vectorize it.

Maybe look into getting a hand held scanner, ive seen em for $40, but that all depends on how badly you want the art vectorized i guess.
