Optipac/trackball help?
« on: June 25, 2004, 08:29:11 am »
Got my mock control panel setup, and I managed to get everything working except up/down on the trackball.

I don't have a multimeter. Any ideas on what I can check? I double checked the wiring, pulled out and re-set the plug on the trackball to make sure it was in good. Made sure everything is spinning correctly...

One thing you could try is switch the up/down wires with the left/right at the OptiPac (leave alone at the TB).

- If it will now move up/down when you move the TB left/right then I would assume there might be something wrong on the TB or wiring end

- if it will still not go up/down, but will still only go left/right then I would assume the issue is at the OptiPac.

As a quick check I might take some new wires and temporarily rewire the up/down and ground wires to make sure the issue isn't just a bad wire.

:) Rotate or die! :)

Amazing how much one bad crimp can take an hour of playing, swapping, yanking and soldering...

But, it works, so I don't care now  ;D
