Anyone use e-Machines in their cab?
« on: June 22, 2004, 08:52:26 pm »
A computer I bought off uBid.com is a POS and I need to return it. I'm wary of buying a refurbished one now but am having trouble fitting a new one in my budget ... has anyone here used e-Machines for their cab? Did it break? Did it work the same as the name brands?

I don't have one in my cab but my main PC is an eMachine, it has worked flawlessly for over a year now.

eMachines has been around for sometime now and they are carried at places like Best Buy and Circuit City.  They are pretty much a name brand now.
Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

I too use an eMachine as my main computer... Mainly because they're cheap and I'm a poor bastard, but for what I paid it's a pretty good system.

I don't play any recent games on it, matter of fact I couldn't even install Knights of the Old Republic on it due to lack of video card, but it will run 99% of non-CHD mame games just fine.  BTW 99% may be an inaccurate calculation due to the fact I have done no actual calculating, but I certainly can't complain about not being able to play any Mame games!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

You see, eMachines got a bad rep because their super cheap systems when they first started sucked.  I was hesitant to get mine.  But I got the top of the line model at the time which didn't have the integrated sound and video.  I've never had a problem with it, it's what I am on now.  It's an old PIII 500.

eMachines used to have a terrible reputation.  They have gotten much better in recent years, but still are lacking slightly compared to other companies.  However, eMachines was recently bought by Gateway, which has helped reliability somewhat already.  Their new laptop lines are supposedly very good, and I've heard much better things about their desktop systems.

For my money, I'd much rater build a system, but I wouldn't be too worried about eMachines overall anymore.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

Dont forget about the Dell Refurbs.  They are just as good as new, and you can get some screaming deals if you are patient enough to wait for the right one to show up.
