Great service and prices from bob roberts
« on: June 21, 2004, 09:07:21 pm »
ok, 90% of the people on here are gonna look at me like I'm saying "I breathe air". But for the 10% who DON'T know....
http://www.therealbobroberts.com

is, IMO THE best place ANYWHERE for ANY arcade cabinet part. Best prices, unbelievably fast shipping, reasonable shipping prices quoted ahead of time (USPS Priority), good with answering questions. Hell, he even gave me some mardi gras beads, cups and cookies a few months ago when I ordered.

High quality stuff, by someone who knows what he's doing, sent out VERY fast. If you're ever planning on buying ANYTHING, check with him first.

OK, move along, I'm done.

Um, you know what that means, don't you?

According to Mardi Gras law, you now have to take a picture of your boobs and send it back to him.

Don't make me do that, cuz I'll post it here too, and then this topic will not be work safe. Besides, I'm hairy, nobody wants to see hairy nipples. (And if you DO, I DON'T want to know about it)

hey now, Ive spent over  1,000 and no beads here?  :(

If you really want some beads, I can send you some and I won't even make you send me a picture of your boobs. :)

I've got over thirty pounds of them from when I went to Mardi Gras a few years ago.

But seriously, I got some cookies and a plastic cup from Bob on my first order.  I don't recall if I got anything on subsequent orders.  If you order stuff around Mardi Gras, the odds of you getting something are probably a lot better.

According to his ordering FAQ:
http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/ordering.html

Quote
What to heck is lagniappe?

Lagniappe is a custom practiced here in Louisiana & I'll give you Webster's definition........
"lagniappe or lagnappe n. 1. a small gift given by a merchant to a customer for making a purchase. 2. a gratuity; tip"
Whenever possible, something is randomly thrown in with your order that my wife or I think you may be able to use, or the brownie cookies or trinkets at Mardi Gras time, or sometimes even the shipping container such as the Rubbermaid containers that were used to ship buttons & joysticks several times. You never know what, or when, you'll find some oddball item in your order... calculators... telephones... tool sets... toys... extras of the same part... vid game posters... flyers... boxes of lamps or stuffed animals just to name a few of the items already sent out as lagniappe.

I'll agree with that - I just ordered a cap kit from Bob and it got here REAL quick.  Now to figure out how to install it... ;)
One word of warning when building a Mame cabinet, hook up the controls LAST!!!  If you don't, it will probably take you 3 - 6 additional months to finish the cabinet.  -JustMichael

I get stuff from Bob all the time.  But I'm distrubed by a couple of messages he wrote about getting ripped off by newbies.

Now he doesn't want to cross ship anymore because of losers ripping him off.

Bob is a big asset to this community.  If you are one of those people you should send in your check and keep him happy.

Because when he's gone you have to go to 50 sources to find what he has.

Nope.  A total stranger.  She walked by with her boyfriend and I just asked if I could get a picture with her because I thought she was cute.  When my friend went to take the picture, she unexpectedly flashed the camera.

1)  Happ gives a volume discount if you buy in lots of 100 (1,000 ?) and he passes some of that discount on to us.

2)  He's a helluva nice guy!

I just received my first order from Bob.  All you guys were talking about getting beads and cookies thrown in...I was actually more excited to see what goodies would be thrown in than to get my joysticks and buttons.  I figured my wife would be more accepting of my order if she got some beads or some trinket like that.  I opened the box and everything was there.  EXCEPT, no free goodies!  Wait.  There were about 10 free cherry switches in there.  So, when my wife asked what I got, I showed her the stuff I ordered.  Then I presented her with the 10 free cherry switches and said "these are for you."  She asked me what they were and I pretended to be mad that she didn't know and said "I looked all over for these.  Don't these ring a bell???"  Boy is she going to be mad when I let her off the hook :)

Bob has now changed his description of the happ pushbuttons stating he is stocking them through mid-july until his new stuff comes in.  Any idea what buttons he will now be carrying?
