Here is the picture

Now I was thinking of putting in either a  quick bunny spinner or a hacked trackball mouse to the left of the joystick. For the trackball mouse hack I was thinking of using this or something like it http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=304049&pfp=BROWSE

Here is the situation :
when looking at the pictuere I have 3 inches between the joystick bolt and the green button and  there is also only 3 inches below the panel.

Seeing as each controller only does a small amount of games I would prefer to make a spinner hack because I can simply use my mouse for playing most trackball games.

Here are the questions
Is there a spinner hack that can fit in these dimensions.

Do you think the board for the trackball mouse hack will fit?

Signed
ED

Add the spinner on the left side.

And move those buttons onto the side... (those are the admin / coin buttons right?)

If you're willing to cut a new CP and re-arrange everything, I'd say put a spinner in the middle, and move the joy over to the left.

It seems natural to stick a joystick right smack in the middle, but alot of arcade games would offset the joystick to the left (since you're expected to use your left hand).

The only situation that warrants putting it in the middle is when you want to make it equally ergonomic for people who use the other hand for the joy.

NO MORE!!

RayB...
good point about the spinner in the middle ! I originally wasn't thinking about doing this until my wife mentioned it.

I was looking under the control panel and I think I may actuually be able to put coin, player1 and player2 all in a vertical row to the far left giving me even more room.for the spinner and joystick

I however need some dimensions for some diy spinners all the examples I have looked at havve no measurements.

Thanks
Ed

Ok I finally found some time to put a diy spinner together pretty easy  if you ask me.

Anyways Does anyone  else have any suggestions for the spinner placement.

Remember I will be moving coin (green), player1 and player2 (yellow)all in a vertical row to the far left giving me room for the spinner and joystick,

Thanks,
Ed

well its not like you have much options, put it to the left of the joystick i guess. personally im not into spinner games so i wouldnt go cramping my panel for one. but if thats what youre into it looks like it could fit ok if you moved the admin buttons over or possibly mounted the admin buttons on the side like pinball buttons

Well  ..your right I don't have too many options

I love tempest and my wife loves the arnoid style games , oh and she likes wheel of fortune as well . There are other uses for the spinner  so don't exclude 360 racing games when you are referring to the spinner.

BTw I am renameing the thread

Thanks
