Donpachi on Pentium II
« on: June 17, 2004, 05:21:06 am »
Just thought it was worth mentioning that my "temporary" cab PC - a lowly pII 400 - is rapidly becoming permanent. . .

The reason?

Raine.

My cab runs in dos, frontended with Arcadeos, and the lowly pII of course struggles with most games post 1984 when running advmame.

But, after some tweaking to get arcade monitor mode running properly and hacking together an .app file for arcadeos, raine runs great.  Seamless game launching from arcadeos. Speedy rom loading. Config file editable via arcadeos' dos shell (or raine's gui if i can be bothered plugging in a mouse).

But most importantly, very decent ingame performance. . .

Donpachi on a pII! I'm in seventh heaven!!!!

And yes, I know raine is full of ugly hacks and not terribly accurate. But my cab is not a documentation project. ;D

Just wanted to share . . . cos I'm thrilled and my wife isn't so excited . . .

Shut up! Bloody Vikings!!
