I know its  cocktail, What kind of cocktail is it? It doesnt look like a normal one. I was told it was a midway cab with the controls taken off and put on one side, is this true and how do I do it? (its a JAMMA cab, though.

It IS a Midway cocktail hacked up so that both the control panels are on one side.

I have seen quite a few of them hacked up in that way. Basically you cut the panels off and put them both on the side with the coin door, that way it LOOKS like you can play normal 2 player games, except that you can't, because the machine isn't REALLY wide enough for two people to sit side by side and play.

Darn! That looks like the only thing that would fit in my house.

Huh, what are you smoking? even a one sided cocktail takes up about twice the square footage as an upright (a two sided one takes up roughly 3.5 times the space).

Shorter does not mean it takes up less floor space. It takes up much more, oh so much more. I have ONE cocktail in my kitchen, and it eats the entire room. I have also had 3 uprights in there, and it was much roomier then.

yup.. don't forget - it's not just the cocktail, there's a couple of chairs you need when you're playing - that eats up space too..:-)
Pull a year and a half strike- it's over 4eva..

I'm going to third this and say that if you think a cocktail will take up less room than a regular machine, you are wrong.  If size is a problem, an upright is actually the better choice.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

If space is a consern...

consider a dual purpose machine.

Like a showcase cab... where you can move the pedistal... and The rest is your entertainment system....

remember a whitebox / mame machine is a great combo... Tivo, DVD, Mp3, Arcade... great!

Next, a minipac machine is pretty small.

but cocktails are GREAT for small spaces... if you can use it for a cofee table.  Another dual use...  My wife wants me to get rid of my cabinet and make a cocktail table... but I have too many controllers and haven't come up with a good design for hotswapping on a cocktail table...
