Just for clarification... is your mouse and keyboard PS/2 or USB?

a lot of pc power on questions lately...  ;D

as Witchboard said, is it PS/2 or USB?

also, check your mb manual.
Many manufacturers support KB power on, but also have a jumper(s) on the MB to supply power to the PS/2 connector or the USB connector when the machine is off. These normally default to not supplying power.
You may need to move the appropriate jumper.

I have the same problem, although I haven't tested power on mouse. It's an MSI board P4MAM-L I think. It's definitely set in the BIOS so I think it's likely to be the jumper. Else it needs a BIOS update.

DaveJ- Again, is it a ps/2 or usb keyboard. It looks like that mb, a P4MAM-L does SUPPORT wake from KB, but there are no jumpers on it for selecting power. It may have only wake from standby support. If I come across anything I'll let you know.

Most "turn on with keypress" 's ONLY work when the computer still has power the entire time the computer is off.  The computer will not turn on the first time it is powered up.  Try giving your computer power then pushing the power button like normal to turn it on. Shut it down and then press any (sometimes several) key(s).  It should now turn on.

I haven't had too much experience dealing with MSI's and power on from KB. From what I have been looking at, many MSI reviews, even though they say they support KB power-on, it doesn't seem to work.
I haven't heard of what JustMichael was refering to, but it may be worth checking into. I do know, and have tested that MSI's wake from s1&s2 power saving from keyboard, (sleep and standby). But I dont have one around to test s3&s4 with (powered off).
If I come across anything I'll post it.
By the way, what model MB is it?

I tested what JustMichael said about the system needing to be connected to a constant power source and I believe he hit the nail on the head. I tried it with one of my systems also MSI and it worked after first manually powering on the system and then subsequent attempts to start up via key on worked until i piulled the power plug and then it ceased to work again until I maunally powered on again.

It is certainly worth a try.

Hi
I am not sure what you mean by always having power. My unit is always plugged in and the switch on the back always on. I turned it on with the hardware button on front, shutdown, and then tried key did not work.
I will check for a jumper but the manual made no mention of one.
