Hiyas,
I'll start this off by saying thanks to everyone for the cab building tips so far. I have absolutely NO skill with woodworking yet, and lurking here has given me a wealth of information that I'll be keeping in mind now that I've begun work on my own cab (Based on UAII design).
The question I have today is laminate. I bought 5/8" MDF, and plan on using 3/4" T-Molding. I assume that means that in order to keep the molding flush with the sides, a 1/16" thickness was needed for the laminate (I'll be laminating both sides of the side panels
). I visited
www.formica.com and took a look at their product but the only Grade available in 1/16" is "Grade 43". By the description on the website, it doesn't sound like what other people have used on their cabs. Here's a description from the site:
Grade 43 (HCS, Nominal Thickness .062" (1.6mm))
ColorCore surfacing material in polished finish for vertical or light duty horizontal interior applications. Solid color throughout; eliminates the "dark line" of standard laminates. Available in 909 Black and 949 White only. Available only for Polished finish ColorCore
