Newbie playstation stick hacking
« on: August 07, 2002, 03:51:13 am »
Hi all, I'm new to this, hope you guys don't mind newbie q's...

Right now I'm trying to modify a stick that I already have, I'm sure you've seen one of these cheap sticks at some stores, here's how it looks:

Right now, the joystick part is broken, so I'm trying to change just the stick itself.
Do you think the Ultimate Stick from Happcontrols will fit this arcade stick? That is what I hope to get.
Here's how the back of the stick looks if you need to see it:

If it will fit, how do you think I should change it? Do I just cut off those wires at where it connects to the stick part?
Also, I seem to have a little trouble actually getting the stick out of the pad.... if you look at this picture:

and the ball seems to be stuck with the stick..do you have any suggestions?

Any suggestions for anything at all from any of you will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot.

The ball is most likely stuck permanantly to the stick. That's okay though, most are. When you take the plastic housing off the bottom of the stick there is a little C-Clamp holding the stick in place, once you take that off it should come right out.

As far as if a regular arcade stick would fit, I doubt it from looking at the pictures. Check out the exploded views on happs' site for measurements:
