Oiling the Trackball
« on: June 14, 2004, 05:58:14 am »
I want to oil my trackball bearings like people do every so often.  Can you get to the bearings from the bottom of the trackball or do you have to take the top off to get to them (which would mean removing the trackball from the CP completely).  I have a Happ 3" high-ball trackball.  Once the TB is connected to the CP, the only access side is the bottom of the TB - I was hoping I could just get at it from there without having to remove the TB from the CP to get at it.

Thanks

:) Rotate or die! :)

Semi-On Topic - Not sure about access, but Xiaou2 highly recommends some sort of electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack for this.

I believe the screws which hold Happ trackballs together are on the top, so you would have to remove it from your CP :(  AFAIK you cannot get to the rollers without taking the trackball apart.

IIRC Bob Roberts website has some good info on this btw, gives some advice on what to use etc...
