Is it a complete working game in good condition?
Is it a 25" monitor?
Is the monitor free of burn in?
Do all the sticks and buttons work correctly?
Is the cabinet free of water damage?

If you answered yes to all the above questions, then it doesn't seem to be that bad of a price.  I don't know if the game itself is desirable or not.

If you plan to put MAME in it, do you like the cabinet?

In the end, it really just comes down to if YOU like it and think the price is reasonable.

A 2 player X-Men could be anything from a $75 machine to a $400 one. If it has a 19" monitor then it is probably more like a $150 machine if the monitor is decent.

Ok, still not a $300 unit unless it has that brand new, or refurbished look. I would pass on it if you are looking for a potential Mame cabinet, but if you want a nice working game then you MIGHT consider it (if condition matches price).

Where do you live man?

Here, you want to get a cabinet quick, cheap and easy for Mame?

Just go to the rec.games.video.arcade.marketplace newgroup and post this message.

WTB: dead game or cabinet, (insert location here).

Then use this text.

Hi, looking to buy a complete or incomplete arcade game for a project, no driving cabinets. Paying $50-$100 depending on cabinet type and condition.

If you think its worth it, no one else should be able to change your mind.

With that being said however, I got a complete 4player Xmen, all original, pretty good sideart, 25" monitor, etc etc AND a 25" Midway cab with Tekken 2 in it (all working).  I got both of them for $450.  That is not bragging, I'm just saying, the guy I went to and a few others I visited had similar prices, so you may want to look around.  I'm in NJ so it may vary by region, but I'd say look around a bit.  Check the yellow pages for Vending companies, a lot of times the ones near me have a few games that they dont really need/want/know what they have.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

If it comes with the Willaims multi kit, I'd buy it. My wife would leave me, but I'd buy it.

What's this you keep talking about Double Dragon?  I know you won one on eBay, he won't give you the game after you paid?  How did you pay?  Is he local to you?

Yeah, I'm sure.  He wants his game gone.

You don't know *anyone* with a truck, or a minivan, that will help you?  Doesn't even take a big truck, just a little pickup.  Heck, a station wagon with the seats down would likely work.

spend 40 bucks and rent a uhaul for the day.  They are pretty cheap if you drop them off same day to the same location.  Also call home depot.  They rent trucks also (I don't know if they have millages in their contracts).

Anyway, 2 hours away shouldn't be the issue.  You CAN get it... but you will have to pay a bit more.   and it will cost MUCH less then just loosing it and buying another.

As for 300 for a cabinet...  A little on the pricy side..  But if you like the cabinet and like the sideart.  Money comes and goes.  Its not a horid price, or a great deal.  Its a price that you can be happy with if everything is to your liking.  Get it if you want it and can afford it... And dont look at prices again.

As for the 19".  The size is better for many original games in mame.  Robotron sucks at larger screen sizes (you can't see the entire screen at once... ).  I know people who had 25 or 27" screens, and got another one with 19"... then changes all of theirs to 19".

I think 27" screens are only better for fighters.  You can only see so much of the screen when sitting that close.

(btw, I have a 27" monitor... but started using artwork for all games that need to be shrunk down)

Jeezuz, if you can't drive and your parents aren't nice enough to drive you to get, it, why did you buy it in the first place? Wouldn't it make sense to find out if you could even GET the game before even considering sending money?

Do you have a dad? Get him involved in the project. That'll make him less annoyed about driving a couple hours to pick up the game.

Surely you asked permission to have a big machine like that in your room/house before you went and bought it, right??

NO MORE!!

Pay for someone ELSE to rent a home depot truck, they are like $15 per 45 minutes, no mileage fee's at all (which is where all of the cost of u-hauls come from).

per 45 minutes!?!?!  and the guy is 2 hours away!?  you figure with an hour for load/offload time he's gonna spend 100 bucks!  go with uhaul.  You'll only spend about $50 to $60.  I agree though.  The guy doesn't want to give you your money back because he wants you to get the cabinet out of there.  And it ISN'T worth the time/money/effort to get another cab if you already have one that you just need to pickup.  You would spend less money having a proffessional go pick it up and truck it to you then you would on another cab.

look in the pennysaver or some other weekly newpapers with ads and find guys looking to do odd jobs. we have a couple of guys who do some misc stuff around the yard for us and we called one of them last week to bring a big pool we bought at walmart to our house. you are going to have to pay money to get this thing back to your house. have someone else do it as suggested. it will dig into money you probably have allocated for control panel work or something else. if the dd works, just play that while you save up money to continue working on the other parts.
