Dance Dance Revolution

Does anyone know if anybody has made a DDR machine yet?  Just wondering.  It'd be pretty easy to do with a Japanese PSOne and some expensive dance pads.

I don't see what people have against DDR.  All though I don't play it since I don't have the coordination, it is a great game.  Excersize and fun in the same machine.

Actually, do you know police 911?  The game that detects your movements.  If you duck the screen ducks.  They did that with a boxing game too.

That boxing game has gloves, too.  They're not that heavy at first, but boy, after a round or too, my arms are tired.  Ducking I can do, but those gloves kill me (and are sweaty from the prior players, yuck).

lol, I remember when I got semi-good at DDR, lol, those were the dark days....  I learned like the knee drop and stuff, and I messed up once and hit the metal bolts with my knees and got the biggest bruises, bad stuff.

If you're making a full blown DDR machine I'd say spend the extra money and buy a Japanese PSOne.  Some of the DDR games will work in a modded PSOne but some will not without the cracks and patches or something.  I recently bought DDR 4th mix to play on my Modded PSOne and it detects the mod chip and halts the game telling me to call Sony so they can tell me how to remove my mod chip.  You can usually find an auction or two for a japanese Playstation.  Just make sure it's a Japanese Playstation and not a modded US playstation.  Even if they say it will play Japanese games sometimes it will only play cracked Japanese games...  yup.

I'm waiting for "virtual street fighter 4"  they need exactly what you said but no cheap cop-outs for the controls.  If you want to do a fire ball you have to make your hands do a fireball motion.  If you want to do a dragon punch then you better go in your living room and practice a jumping, spinning uppercut.  If you want to do a psyco crusher then you better learn how to defy the laws of physics and spin horizontal towards the screen at high speeds.  ;)

Seriously though, I think the reason they don't make a game like that is because street fighters are only fun if the characters are interesting and have cool special moves.  Replacing the character with you automatically makes your character lame (no personal offense should be taken from that) and boring.  You can't have cool special moves because it's physically impossible to mime most of them out in real life.    A boxing game might work, but then again, it would probably be more fun to go beat  the crap out of some hobos.  ;)

hey maybe the miming of moves could be possible for some 3d fighters

take virtua fighter the moves are slow and none of the moves are really supernatural but how would you mimick throws?

i think you guys will have to wait for ps9 or xbox 8

I think that would be way way cool!  But I'm getting old... and I'm not sure if I would be able to keep up  ;)

btw, you could do it pretty easy with some power gloves type controls.

the kicks would be the hard part.  Why?  someone kicks (but shouldn't because they can't get their feet over an inch off the ground) then they fall..and sue!  It WOULD happen you know...

So maybe a ddr pad on the ground for kicks... and two power gloves for the hands...

My friend just asked me if DDR was on PC.  It isn't put Pump It Up is.  However there are DDR simulators out there.  I just found DWI (Dance With Intensity) and Diet Diet Ravolution.

A boxing game is not a street fighting game.  It doesn't have special moves or holds ect.  I think you missed the entire point of my description.

I know there is that one game, but it pretty much sucked and didn't sell well because it sucked.  What I was referring to was a game that completely mimiced your true movements and that it might work well for a boxing game.  The one you mentioned isn't very sophisticated and pretty much just punches where you aim.  If it were to mimic your actual body motions (for blocking, dodging, and punch techniques) then it would be a lot more fun.

THat's cool.  I found www.stepmania.com.  It does many machines, pump it up, ddr, etc...  Someone made a version that supports ez2dancer.
