Cabinet needed in Texas
« on: August 05, 2002, 02:12:39 pm »
I'm starting a second MAME project and I'm looking for a good, sturdy cabinet to put it in. I don't have the time to make one, and I prefer the authentic feel of a used cabinet, anyways.

I would be willing to drive just about anywhere in Texas to pick one up. I'm looking for something on the cheap side (maybe free). Don't get me wrong, though. I'm not looking for anything really nice here. But if anybody out there has a cabinet they need to get rid of for some reason or another, I'd be willing to take it. The same goes for parts.

So if you or anybody you know can help me out, please get back to me here. Thanks in advance...

have you tried talking to vendors?  They usually have used cabinets.  That's where I got my double dragon cabinet for free.

find some arcade warehouse around you...keep looking around the place...arcade vendors always throw away good stuff..over here(NY city)i see cabinets like every week..either they break the cabinets apart or throw away just like that...i once got a simpsons 4 players cabinet for free...so i let you know..before you actually buy..just go to your arcade vendor and keep your eyes open...you might get a cabinet for FREE ;D

Thanks for the tip. While that may be easy for yall up in NY, I live in deep south Texas. Let me put it to you this way... I'm not in the MIDDLE of nowhere, I'm at the BOTTOM of nowhere.  ;D

There is only one vendor within a 3-hour drive of here. I've already been talking with him about the matter. I told him to find the crappiest POS he can get his hands on for me. He gave me the impression that he wouldn't be giving anything away, but he would let a cabinet without monitor go for about $50. (It's not free, but it's not bad.) However, he's going VERY slow and I was just looking to see if anybody had one already available.
