Free Berzerk cab
« on: June 06, 2004, 07:16:32 pm »
Okie,   I've got a Berzerk cab I'd like to unload and I just can't bring myself to make firewood out of it.

It's stripped.  NO monitor, bezel or cp.   It does have the coin door (no mechs) and logic board mounting hardware.  (No "Don't mame a classic" comments please, I got it this way)

The unique thing about Berzerk was the logic board mounting,  it was on a slide-out board that was accessable from the front via a locking door.   This makes an  excellent place to mount PC hardware for MAME and have it easily accessable from the front.

Here's the rub,  it's water damaged, but salvageable IMO.   The sides and front are solid plywood with no visible seperating.  The painted on side art is in decent shape.   The back pieces are junk (MDF) and the whole cab is "Loose".    My thought was to knock it down, re-glue all the joints, and re-assemble it replacing the back parts with new MDF then sanding and painting the whole thing while trying to leave the painted on side-art untouched.

I don't think it's any more work than building this cab from scratch.  But hey,  whadda want fer nuthin' ???

Me and the Cab are in Bangor, Maine (Prolly too far away from all you guys)

Sorry, no pics ATM...

I am currently MAMEing a frenzy cabinet(same as Berzerk) (saved from the scrapheap too.)  I think this is the best cabinet to use because it is a nice size and has many great features.  I even put a keyboard drawer under the control panel.  It has a large opening for the coin door too.  Someone should definately save this cabinet.  Just my $.02

*Bump*

Anybody ???

Ratz....

Prolly should have started a new thread with this one:

Weeeell...   okie,  I also have a " Tatio - Change Lanes",  The game wasn't a very popular game, and I thought it sucked.      It's in peices, but I have all the parts and the cab is very solid. The game itself has some sort of problem,  would only work once in a blue moon.   It had a switching power supply tried before I got it and that didn't fix it so I inherited it.   I had a quick look at it and I'm guessing a board problem.  Also the monitor has severe burn in and generally looks like poop, (exhibits a foldover issue)  I'm sure the chassis needs a cap kit.

Anybody interested in this one ??  Not free, but damn cheap or trades.....

See first post for location..

If I were a "WEEEE" bit closer to Bangor than north Alabama, I'd surely come get the Berzerk cab  ;D

Actually,  his house is just a few blocks down the street from here.    He isn't there much anymore, I think it's pretty much just his son living there now.  I heard he's spending most of his time in Florida (?)

That hasn't stopped the never ending stream of out-of-towners from stopping and taking pictures of his place tho...  I can understand why,  it's a pretty creepy looking place...   ;D

A few blocks?  That'd be... just weird.

On the other hand, you see Merle Haggard around here (Redding, CA) quite a bit, and it doesn't seem weird at all.  Of course, I'm not really into Merle...

Want surreal?  I see guys like Tom Brady, Adam Vinatieri, Bill Belichick, Bob Kraft wandering around all the time.  I live right near Gillette Stadium.  Aside from being bigger than everyone else they're just normal people.

That's how Steve looked wondering around town here for years...     Plain looking t-shirt,  shorts and flip-flops...   If it wasn't for the Mercedes, Vette..  (whatever he was driving that day) you wouldn't have given him a second glance.

I think that's why he likes it here so much,  easy to blend in and a town like this doesn't treat him like a celeb.

But that house,  man.....    Beg red house with a small tower,  iron fencing with iron bats on the posts and all...    it's just odd....

My dad knew him from collage years ago,  says he was an odd duck then too...

He's been awesome to the town,  small baseball stadium for the local leagues,  donations to the town library and most recently a huge donation to build a huge new town pool.   The guy is one heckuva decent human IMHO....

Nope..  sorry...

Got a stupid Polaroid for a dig cam,  Polaroid dropped support for it awhile ago and they aren't making drivers for XP....    so I'd have to keep a Win9x box about just to DL the pics from it...

Stuff 'em...     Looking at picking up a new one this week..   Once I do, I'll post pics on the Bezerk and the other stuff I'd like to unload..

Still,  doesn't seem to be anybody in my area interested...      I'll post the pics anyway..   :)

Yeah, I'm interested, but it's a 4-5 hour trip each way so to do that without pics is just foolish.
