New England (BYOAC) Meetup - Success!
« on: June 06, 2004, 02:40:14 pm »
Hey all,

It was great to finally put names, faces and stories behind some of the members of this fun community. The meet-up and BBQ was awesome and I hope everyone had a great time.  I know I had a blast hanging out and swappin' tales. It was amazing how well we all got on, I'd hang out with you people anytime.

Thanks to Ed O'Neill for hosting the BBQ at his place and thanks to all of those BYOAC members, their families and friends that made it such a wonderful success.

For those of you who took pictures, feel free to post them here to share.

Oh, the arcade was a BLAST!...it's friggin' HUGE btw.

I just got home, for some reason my --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- is still sore from playing that Police911 game ??? Other than that myself and Jen had a great time! I think Jen was dreading the whole thing, but was pleasantly surprised once we got there.

Hopefully Back In Time will have some photos of FunSpot up soon, I think there's just a couple of cameraphone pics from there. Here's their details of last years tournament.

I'll resize and post the photos any second now...

Here's one of Recycled Past (I think, sorry my brain isn't so good at matching up faces/real names/screen names today), Ed (with an expression like someone is talking about his mother on the other side of the room) and Teknique (looking very photogenic).

We were going to go to the beach bar at the place we were staying, but it was closed for the night so Teknique (I think) suggested the Smokehouse. I have more drunken photos (one of Tek staring at our waitresses chest) but they're not so good. I'll try and get the one's from Jens phone now...

I had a great time.  Thanks Ed for setting it up.

I had never been to funspot.  It seems like you get a million tokens for $20.  I played games for 4 hours and still had a pocket full of tokens left over so I guess I'll have to go back  ;)
They also have a ton of pinball machines.  99% of the games were only one coin so it's pretty hard to run out of tokens.

The wierdest game I  played was Turkey Shoot.
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=T&game_id=10222
It has a mounted gun similar to operation wolf and once you have completed a mission, real feathers fly in front of the screen.  The first time they flew up, it scared the crap out of me.  I looked around to see if anyone saw me jump like an idiot.  Lucklily everyone was watching some guy getting video taped playing S.T.U.N. Runner.

I placed 1st in both Dayona USA races so I guess it wasn't a fluke.

Everyone was great.  I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Thanks again, Ed for letting us use your place.. Next time I'll buy the sausages ;)

SUCCESS is right ! I had a great time. I hope everyone else did.

Hey for those intrested I would be willling host another BBQ, so for those of you who didn't come and want to do it before the summers end ...it's all good ....someone  pick a date and let me know.

I am surprised no one mentioned that I was late, yea the guy who started all of this. What were the rest of you thinking when it was 1:15 and we showed up?

Nice you guys start a thread about this and I am sitting on the road today with a blow transmission. Thank god it didn't happen on the way home from funspot ...right Recycled-Past.Well maybe the mame project will be put on hold..NOT!...Can you say citibank...LOL

I would like to personally thank JEN (Joy-Monkey fiancee')for making the pasta salad (great job) , and oh yea for cutting and cooking the peppers and onions for the sausage... boy did I drop the ball on that one,I forgot to do it in the morning...LOL.

I'd also like to thank Recycled-Past, for some great omlettes both sat and sunday mornings.

Speaking of the Daytona Races....there were 8 of us and there were 8 machines so you can imagine the fun it was to have 8 people you kinda' know racing each other...comments like who's the f!@#is the pink car that just smashed me into the wall...LOL. Recycled Past forgot to mention the prize I gave him for winning, they were cheesy plastic funspot cups..LOL. All hail...Recycled-Past

For those of you thinking of doing this in your area of the country I highly recommend it.

BTW I will post some pictures later this afternoon.

Signed
ED

Here is a picture of Dave (aka mr. curmudegeon) sitting with all his friends....Hey where did everyone go?

Well actually Dave was talking with Jason (aka Recycled-Past)

In the picture below clockwise  of Mark (aka Teknique) with orange hat and tan shorts and shirt, Steve (aka screaming) Will's girlfriend (? sorry I forgot), next we have Paul (aka Joy Monkey) Dave (mr.curmudegeon) back side, Will and daughter(can't really see Will ), and last but not least is Chad soon to be a byoac member

Here is almost the same shot but now Jen  (Joy Monkey's fiancee) is in the picture

Now who is impressed that I remembered almost everyone's name?

The 24th seems a little close to me, heck it's only what, 46 days from today.  Not that I won't be there or anything...  ;D

Anyways, I'll leave the decision making up to everyone else, COUNT ME IN!

However  I don't have any plans for any weekend in August

Please don't base your descision on my sechedule if I miss the next one then I'll go the one after that.

Should we start a new thread for the new August 14th meet up?

I should be able to make it up for the 14th providing the wedding planning continues to go smoothly.  My fiancee might be willing to make the trip if she's not in school.

Nah, let's not clutter up the board.  We all know what's up.

The 27th was good, but I'm waiting to see if my wife has any plans for the 14th.

Peale like I said I won't be able to do it on July 27th.

Seems like it might just be  August 14th. I can't beleive we are going to do this 2 times this summer...COOL  8)

I am just about finished with MAME on the MOVE...it's a laptop mame machine...I bring it up on the next get together.

So I read.  Too bad.  But we're in for the 14th AFAIK.
