Games for 5 year olds to play?
« on: June 04, 2004, 02:04:13 pm »
My nieces are over for the weekend, they're both around 5 I think. Also, a 10 or 11 year old niece of mine and a... 6 or 7 year old nephew are coming soon. What games would be appropriate for them? Nothing violent of course, and super-easy.

Thanks!

My 6 yr old likes fighting games and racing games.

The best part of the fighting games is he thinks he plays them better than say a skill game like pac-man ....in pac man you have to have good control to move him around the board while fighting games he just loves puching all the buttons kicking pucnching .

His favorite fighting game of course is teenage mutant ninja turtles

There are a few others he likes, circus charlie(great for young kids),kangaroo, donkey kong jr. When he comes home I'll ask him what some of his favorites are..I'll post later.

Just my 2 cents

Yes, you can.  My 5 and 2 year olds played POW (I have a dedicated) and for weeks they ran around shooting each other and hitting each other with sticks they called rifles.

Definitely put Tempest on the list--if you have a spinner.
5-yr-olds LOVE spinning the spinner in one direction continuously, and shooting the whole time.

Another spinner game that's really easy is Cameltry.
You just spin the spinner to rotate the maze, and your ball falls toward the bottom of the screen.

Quantum and Marble Madness are good ones--if you have a trackball.

Rally-X is good for joysticks.
They will probably burn through their fuel really quick leaving a continuous smoke trail, but they enjoy it.

Continuing games like 1941, Rampage, Gauntlet and the like are always good as well.
That way they can eventually make it to the higher levels, regardless of skill.

My friends bring their 3-year-old son frequently. His favorite game is Superman. Pretty easy; move, punch, kick. Plus it's Superman! Every kid loves Superman.

Since reading a similiar thread a week ago, my 5 year old and I have played J.J. Squawkers for an hour a night.  She loves that game.

She also really likes Ms. Pacman if I turn the cheats on.  It lets her learn how to move around the maze and learn how to work the joystick...
