Coin Mech/Led question?
« on: June 04, 2004, 05:35:16 am »
I just got my first cabinet a Egret 29. Iv started taking it apart to clean and have run into a couple parts that have confused me.

First Under the control panel there was some extra hardware. Theres a creditcard reader/writer box connected to alot of electronics thats then connected to a numerical LED display. The control panel has a small window for the led, im guessing its for showing credits? Anyway anyone seen this before and know how to get it working with mame.

Also the coin Mech are setup for japenese coins. Is this particular coin mech able to be converted to 25 quarters? Also assuming I get the coin mech working with quaters where are some tutorials for wiring it to work with mame.

Does that cabinet also have a network connection on it?
I'm not 100% sure but that looks awfuly like a Intercard system, where you would by credits at the entrance to the arcade, and then they give you a swipe card. the reader/display communicate with the arcades credit system over the network, the card just has  an identification number, the computer in the back takes care of all the rest.
Getting it going with mame wouldn't be the hard part, as most these systems simply use a relay closure to simulate a coin drop to the game, but getting it operational without the credit systems computer would be a challenge.

You have standard mount coin mechs so all you need to do is buy a standard 25 cent mech and replace the ones you have now. Yours is an Asahi Seiko which is EXACTLY the same as Happ Controls Ultimech coin mech except for the color.
