just got back.  I thought I'd bite the bullet and see if I could find an empty cab.  Not much to choose from, but I ended up getting a Dynamite Cop cabinet with 25 inch monitor for 75 bucks.  Now it said on the sticker 'not working', so when I got it home, I popped the back off, and saw that the monitor isn't even connected to anything on the PCB (the 3 sets of wires coming from the rear of the monitor were just sitting unconnected to anything).   So here's my dilemna - I was just gonna gut the thing, and put a TV into it, but now I'm curious to see if maybe it is a working machine, just not hooked up.   However, I'm a mame guy, and not so much a Jamma purist (sorry to all I offend).    Any ideas from anyone???

Cheers!

At least see if it works well, with a 25" monitor, if it works well, you could still turn it into a mame machine with an arcadevga and j-pac. Then you just saved yourself buying a TV and getting it to fit right and mounting it (And an arcade monitor in good shape always beats out a TV.)

see the problem is, I don't know how to connect the monitor to the current pcb board.   The monitor is sitting in there with the 3 sets of wires (two wires per set connected at the end to a molex), not hooked up to anything.   If I knew where to hook them up, I'd test it out.   Any suggestions as to where I should look?

So that was you bidding against me eh? ;D  Too bad i didn't turn around i could have put a face to a name!  Anyways, is there a jamma harness inside?  3 sets of wires from the monitor?--power , RGB, ground maybe--dunno would have to see it to know--and by the way if you don't feel like screwing with it--i'd give you $50 for the monitor  ;D  Best thing to do is snap a pic and post it--only way to know for sure.

Oh yeah--and what a crap selection this time out--except for that showcase cab that went for 25$ cause the dumbass auctioneer was outside talking to himself while we were all inside--could have killed him >:(

HAHA!  sorry about that dude!  I was so upset about missing the Tekken off the top, I had to go after something.  But yeah, nothing was worth the taking -  although my buddy who came along for the ride was mad at himself for not bidding on that Speed Buggy that went for 25 bucks.

As for the Dynamite Cop, my wife (who in this hobby, it's always good when she's happy) wasn't gonna wait for me  to test everything out on the cab, so we gutted it last night.  The monitor is sitting in my garage as we speak (along with the PCB , the control panel and some various other parts from inside the cab), because as my wife put it - "you were either gonna gut another cabinet or build one, so quit stalling and pull everything out so we can get it in the basement"........Lesson #1 in building a MAME cabinet - don't argue with a pregnant woman....

I'll try and snap off a pic this afternoon of the monitor.  It appears to be a WG, and aside from some minor scratches on the glass there doesn't appear to be any burn-in.   It could very well be a perfectly working monitor, but again, my wife says 'just throw the 25 inch TV into it and be done' ... probably shouldn't have mentioned that it might cost a few more dollars to get the monitor working with the mame setup.   The mounting frame looks in great shape, and I won't be needing it anyway, so if the monitor and mounting plates are of any use to you - by all means they're yours.  I'm sure my wife would be happy to know that I'm making some of the money back  :-)

Mike

p.s. I'm in Brantford - just for reference sake!

They don't have the next one posted yet, but it'll likely be towards the end of June. Keep an eye on http://www.starburstcoin.com/ for more details.
