WTB "Asteroids" style coin door
« on: May 27, 2004, 11:47:03 am »
I'm looking for one of the Asteroids or similar coin doors with the flat round coin entry instead of modern slots.

Anybody got one in decent condition? I'm happy to pay what the seem to go on for eBay which is $25-30, but always willing to haggle. Don't need coin mechanisms or anything.

There's one on ebay now.  Search for it in arcade parts and accessories.

I have a really nice one, but it is sort of in a game right now.

fredster: yeah I'll bid on it in a week if nobody here has one.

paigeoliver: I've got a sawzall - I can take it right out of there for you, no problem.

Actually, it is sort of a funny story that game. I was an Atari Basketball at the auction and I paid $5 for it thinking (hey, the coin door is worth more than that!).

Turns out is had around $8 inside (lots of quarters inside, none newer than 81 or so).

Now I can't decide if I should fix it or not, I can't decide if I want it, and it would bring a TON if parted (working 21" b@w monitor, 2 working 4" trackballs, lunar lander door, cone buttons, all the removable stuff is in perfect shape except the CPO, etc, etc).

Don't you have too many projects already? You should part it out.  ;)

Seriously, though - if you decide to sell off the bits let me know. I can't for the life of me remember what Atari Basketball was like, so I won't claim it isn't worth restoring anyway.

Atari basketball is EXACTLY like Basketball for the Atari 2600, except with a trackball. Basically one on one basketball with stick figures.
