and now it's time to play, "Name this Game"
« on: May 27, 2004, 04:41:12 am »
Hi guys, hope you can help me find this game.

It is some sort of space invaders game.

It is colour not black and white.

The shooter down the bottom is called a tank.

The UFO at times cloaks and then decloaks.

The UFO drops aliens to fill in spaces where there were alien you killed before.

After you have killed the last alien invader, the UFO coninually flies across the top of the screen and stops at certain intervals and fires at you.

Does anybody know this game?

No, it's not New York New York, I had a good look through maws last night and I'm pretty sure this game is not emulated. It's basically space invaders, same looking invaders just a few minor differences with the way the UFO behaves and instead of that typical space invader shooter on the bottom, it has a different shape which is called a tank, also the barriers are a little bit different in shape to space invaders.

Space Invaders Part II?

Nope. It is the closest game to one I've been trying to find, it has the same colour scheme but the UFO behaves differently and shooter on bottom is a differnet shape.

The amount of Space Invaders clones, bootlegs, and variants is so large that they are STILL being discovered. You see these hunts for specific versions quite often, and often times they are fruitless. You might have very well played a bootleg or variant that only had a couple dozen units produced.

If you are searching for them in Mame though, then just manuall go through the clones for 1987, 1979, and 1980, and if it is in there, then you will find it.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Okay folks the game is "Shuttle Invader" (1979) by Omori and it is listed in the unMAMEd archives, I just played it at a pub today.

So my next question is how do I go about getting this game dumped?

According to the pub manager, the owner of this game says it's worth $2,500 (he's dreaming of course, probably really worth $500 AUD in it' Leisure & Allied cocktail table).

Is this game worth trying to get dumped? I haven't spoken to the owner yet but I know him well as I worked with him about 15 years ago.

I heard there are chances of frying the roms when they get dumped, I have a feeling he won't be keen for this to happen. And there is no way I'm going to pay him $2,500 to buy it off him.
