Connecting a Happ Rotary Joystick to Opti-pac
« on: July 30, 2002, 04:14:36 pm »
Any one know how to connect a Happ rotary optical joystick up to the opti-pac.

Also with the i-pac can you connect two joysticks upto the same port and use either one, ie a 4 way joystick and a 8 way joystick or in my case a t-stick and a happ rotary joystick.

Thanks in advance

Andy should have instructions on www.ultimarc.com.  The Happ optical rotary uses the same opto boards as their trackballs.

Absolutely, as long as you realize that they will work together.  I.e., if you are playing using the T-stick and you (or your opponent!!!) accidentally (?) bumps your rotary stick upwards, the character will move upwards.  If this is a problem, you could either use an I-PAC/4 to gain more inputs, or use either a pair of DPDT or a 4-pole rotary switch to select between the joysticks.
