What version of MAME to use with old pc
« on: May 21, 2004, 10:52:37 pm »
We have a "old' second comp in our house that I'd like to put mame on, its a Pentium P1 166mhz, with 32 megs of ram and Win95. What mame would work on this pc?

Any help would be very much appreciated

cheers

Gav

vantage mame works well, as does build .36b12 (i think its that one)  the older the mame version the better for slower machines.  Just check to make sure the games you want to play are included in whatever version you start using.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

What menace said, except vantage is a totally different emulator, not a MAME version - but probably better for a Pentium 166.

.36b12 is fine on that proc, when I first received my Gorf cocktail Mame the mobo was incorrectly underclocked to that speed, and everything still ran full speed.
