Wiring an optic stick into a mircroswitch
« on: May 19, 2004, 09:39:36 pm »
I have a 'Real arcade universal' arcade stick.  I pulled out all the buttons and the stick and got a optic stick to wire in for the microswitch stick.  I'm not quite clear on how to wire the circuit for the microswitch to work with the optic stick.

I didn't quite see the Jaama site giving any real indicator on how to wire the circuits for this so I'm looking for anything or anyone who could tell me

Scroll down a bit and they explain how to wire up and replace an original 49-way optical Sinistar stick with a standard digital 8-way stick.  I think this is what you're looking for.

This gave me some things to think about but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

The original stick is a 4-way microswitch and the stick I'm putting in is a optic with only four directional leads.

It looks like the switches for the stick are using ground and no connectors.  How annoying.  I'm not sure how the happs P360 signals, but from what I've read, I assume it sends a current rather then a ground, the faq on that page only seemed to want a nc.  Not to mention it speaks of up-down as if it were one lead, where as they are separate leads.  Maybe I just didn't understand it fully.

After some reading up, I decided to follow the vague hack for a xbox reflex stick.  It seems to think that putting a p360 into it would be easy and it uses a micro stick.  Soooo, I'm gonna plut the NO wires into the four leads on the stick, then put the grounds on one of the bottons and see if that works.  Only problem is I'm not positive which wire is the PCB power source.

I'll post how successful I am, any tips would still be welcomed though. ^_^
