Stern coin doors
« on: May 18, 2004, 06:57:35 pm »
Hey all,

I have an older stern coin door that came with my cabinet...the problem is that there are no coin mechs for it.  Is there any place that anyone is aware of where I can purchase just the coin mechs for this door...or do I have to find another stern door and pull the mechs off of it.  If I have to replace the door that's fine, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.  Any help would be great.  Thanks  :)

Most coin mechs are universal.  You can get them new from Happ or used from eBay.  I've got some, but I'm on vacation...

Stern used standard off-the-shelf mechs from all the major coin mech manufacturers (mostly Coin Mech and Coinco brands). You can order brand new mechs from Happ Controls.

I have a stern cab without a coin door. I want to put just a black metal door on it (no coin slot), will the happs pinball blank door fit? http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40006700.htm

is there a better option?

No, Stern's coin door was much bigger than regular coin doors. They had a much bigger hole cutout in the front of the cabinet. If you wanted to make some wood or metal 'spacers' then you might be able to fit a modern Happ door.

ok, i still havent found a solution, i might  just try to find a stern door and edit somehow, my basic goal is to replace the aproximately 12.5"x12.5" with a blank door to access a dreamcast, looking for any ideas. maybe a stren door frame?

Entropy or Coin Mech might have a larger door now that may fit your cutout. Check with them for specs.

You can buy direct from Entropy (www.entropyusa.com). Entropy and Coin Mech are distributed by Happ Controls, too.

That thing looks like it mounts in a wall. Yes, it appears to 'lock' with a screwdriver.
