PS2 Logitech wheel on PC?
« on: May 18, 2004, 10:47:24 am »
I have the Logitech Playstation 2 force feedback wheel that came out for Gran Turismo 3.  It has a PS2 AND USB connection.  Has anyone tried using one of these on a pc or furthermore in mame?  I just wanted to see if it might be worth my time to dig it out of my closet and try it out.  Thanks in advance!

I used to have the wheel that was released as at the time when GT3 was first released, the GT Force.  Basically the same color, but no controller buttons where present on the wheel, and it had the GT3 logo in the centre peice of the steering wheel.

This wheel definately worked on the PC when the "Wingman" drivers from the logitech site where installed.    The Wingman was the wheel that looked like the GT Force wheel, but was red (and black) instead of blue.  With the PC drivers installed, it definately worked in MAME as well (in non-powered mode, no mame games support force feedback to my knowlegde).

Not sure if the same is true for the newer PS2 wheel you have, but I guess you can only try.

That's actually the one I have.  I guess Maybe I described it wrong.  It's been in a closet since I moved.  That's awesome that it works though.

I'll go try to find that driver.  Thanks for the info!

Sounds even better!  I may break that thing out this week and check it out.

Do you have to use a PS2 adapter or does it just load up totally through the USB port?

Ummm, no... I just assumed you had the latter one, as the original GT force wheels are quite rare these days.  Whats even worse, is that a few car games released of late only work with the newer wheel I mention... not the original GT Force....  ::)

Yeah... I tried to use it with Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero and it didn't work.  After that I never tried it with any newer games.  The only one I picked up was NFS: Underground.  That was pretty cool with the pad though.
Least it's awesome with GT3.  That's what truly made that game 8)

Well I went out and bought this sucker! ;D

http://nascar.about.com/library/weekly/aaprlogitechmomoforce.htm

Works perfectly with GT3, GT3 Concept.... though same game compatibility probs as the GT Force in latter games.

Only problem is this wheel is now effectively redundant, as the new GT wheel for GT4 supports a 900 degree turning circle, versus the 270 degrees that the GT force/Momo has.

This supposedly makes rally driving a treat in GT4.

Time to move forward I guess... )
