I'm rewiring a control panel, all the control are grounded and i've followed each wire and wired it to the correct place on the jamma fingerboard. But when i turn the machine on it comes on but the controls don't work. Here's a pic of what i've done.

The controls where working o.k before but the fingerboard was worn so i decided t change it for a new one.

Any ideas????

If all your controls stopped working, check your ground wire again.  Perhaps you have a break in the loop somewhere on the control panel.  Also check to make sure that the control ground on the jamma harness is actually grounded, possibly that became disconnected while you were working on the game.

Does the ground on the opposite side need to be wired?

If a ground isn't connected to "ground" then it isn't a ground.

I agree with Oscar, the ground sounds like a potential problem.  One thing you may try to troubleshoot this is to take one button, run a new tempoarary ground dirctly to the fingerboard, as well as a new temporary power wire to the board and see if that works.  If so, it would appear that the board is working and you can expand your trouble hunting from there - if not, I would wonder about a faulty board.

:) Rotate or die! :)
